Episode #1: Who do you WANT and NEED to be?
Welcome to the first episode of The Strategy Corner. In this episode, I share with you a little about me, what to expect each week and then we dive into my first strategy.
Most people think that life happens to them, that we can’t control outcomes of situations, but the reality is we can. We can decide ahead of time “who do you want to be?” and “who do you need to be?” to get the outcome you are looking for. Just these two questions have transformed me life and continue to do so. You want to transform, then come along and LET’S TAKE ACTION!
Who Do You WANT and NEED to Be?
Hello and welcome to the first episode of The Strategy Corner, where our goal is to get you to take action. I’m your host, Michelle Zink, the owner of Intentional Solutions Corp. The goal of this episode is to let you know a little bit about myself, get you to be introduced to my business, share the podcast format and goal, and to share the first strategy.
A little bit about myself. I live in Orlando, Florida, and have worked in manufacturing for the past 21 years up until a couple years ago, when I decided to take the big leap and start my own business. This has been a dream of mine for many years, and finally, I took the steps to move that forward and become a reality. Before that, in manufacturing, I had the opportunity to work with a small manufacturing locally, where I was on the leadership team. I started out in their accounting and finance department and worked my way up into a leadership role and really enjoyed the opportunity to work with such amazing people. But now, I’m here working on my business called Intentional Solutions Corp, where we serve second-stage businesses in business strategy, process development, and executive coaching. In this business, I have an opportunity to work with amazing business owners and executive teams.
This podcast, we’re going to be serving business owners and executives. This is the audience. The goal is to provide simple strategies to get you to take action and create results you’re dreaming of. Why? Because I want everyone to live and create an amazing business and life through taking intentional steps. What to expect each week: a simple strategy you can incorporate into your life and business that day. I say life and business because I know that life and business intertwine, and if your life is off track, then your business is off track. So the goal is to utilize these strategies not only in your business, but also in your life. The podcast will be short. I know that you all are very busy creating and doing, and the goal here is to share a strategy so you can actually take action that day.
So the podcast will last no longer than 20 minutes, and they’re going to be solo episodes. In the future, I look to create and have guests, but right now, we’re just going to keep it solo, so I can get you guys taking action and creating, and then we can bring in some guests.
Now to the first strategy. Now, the strategy I’m sharing with today is one of my foundational strategies, and this is one that I utilize a lot in my life. It is two questions that I ask myself. The first question is, “Who do you want to be?” The second question is, “Who do you need to be?” This is the core of my being. I utilize these two questions in everything that I do. For instance, when I started this podcast, or dreamed about starting this podcast, I knew I wanted to start a podcast. I knew that I wanted to create one that focused on strategy, because it’s really the core of my being. I am a strategist. With that knowing of what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go, I needed to decide who I wanted to be and who I needed to be in order to do that.
So what was great about the podcast is I realized that those two questions aligned, and in this particular moment, I needed and wanted to be the same person, which is someone who created a podcast that was quick, simple, to the point, and very actionable. I wanted to create something that people could actually utilize and take action on that day, and that aligned with exactly who I needed and wanted to be.
Now, in another example, if I’m working with a client and I have a strategy that I know will work specific in their industry and in their business and will help them take their business to the next level, I want to be someone who over explains, who gets them to understand, someone who really gets them to grasp the strategy I’m talking about. But in reality, who I need to be in order to get them to take action, which is my goal, is utilize a short story where they can see an example of how I’ve used it in the past and the result that I’ve gotten with another client, which was success, so that they can see that they can utilize it in their business, as well.
So in this case, when I ask myself these two questions, it truly helps me align into what I need to be, because I realize that what I want to be and what I need to be are not the same. So that’s how it helps me get clear on what I really need to do and who I really need to be in order to create the result I’m looking for.
So now we’re moving into the part of the show where there’s a call to action. Every show, at the end, I’m going to ask you, the audience, to take an action. So here we go. What is a problem, issue, or opportunity you need to take action on today? Okay, I’m going to give you a few minutes so you can think about it. Okay, so have you thought about one thing? So now we need to think about the result that you’re looking to have with this particular problem, issue, or opportunity. So think about the result that you would like to have with this problem, issue, or opportunity. I’m going to give you a few more minutes, or a few seconds, to think about it.
Okay, now you know what the problem is or issue or opportunity. You know where you want to go. Now write down, who do I need to be? Who do I want to be? Take 10 minutes and answer these questions. I say 10 minutes, because you need to take some tie to really slow down and see who you need to be and who you want to be in this situation. By giving yourself some space and by setting your clock for 10 minutes, it allows your brain to go off and think about the answer and come with a really good solution that will help you achieve specifically what you’re aiming to achieve. So go ahead. Write it down. Take some time and utilize this strategy today. Until next time, remember, action takes you from dreaming to creation, and when we are creating and dreaming, you are happy and abundant. So let’s create together.
