Episode #43: What Have You Learned About Your Company During This Pandemic
Today we’re looking at the big picture of what you’ve learned about your company during this pandemic. First it was about yourself, then your team, and now we’re opening it up to focus on your company. In the next episode, I’m going to bring all of these things together so that you can learn and grow from this experience.
As leaders and business owners, we need to reflect so that we can move forward, and remember that this shouldn’t come from a place of judgement. Just write your thoughts on these questions down and sit and think about them.
- Where did we fall short on supplying our products or services during these last three months?
- What vendors were we happy with, and which ones do we need to find additional sources to ensure we are covered in the future?
- Are there any areas in our business that we need to do differently to ensure we are stable moving forward? Do we need to add product lines or services? Do we need to remove product lines or services?
- Where did we learn we could do more with less? And how can I utilize these learnings to reduce costs?
- How did the culture of my company respond during these last three months? Did it respond how I had hoped, or do we need more learning to get back on track?
Your Call to Action: Give yourself an hour or four blocks of fifteen minutes to find the answers that will really teach you about the lessons you’ve learned. Write these thoughts down so that you have a chance to think deeply and move past the thoughts that might be sitting on the top of your head.
Hello and welcome to episode number 43 of The Strategy Corner, where our goal is to get you to take action. I’m your host, Michel Zink, the owner of Intentional Solutions Corp.. Today’s strategy is what have you learned about your company during this pandemic? Have you been listening? The last two weeks I’ve had questions around what you’ve been learning. First, it was about yourself, and then it was about your team. And now it’s about your company. So we’re moving and focusing and we’re taking that camera lens and opening it up. So we’re looking more at the big picture to see what we can learn from a far-out focus. So it’s going to follow the same platform and the same way the other podcasts have gone. These are going to be quick. I’m going to share some questions for you to ask. And then in next week’s episodes, I’m going to tell you how to bring it all together is that you can take everything that you learned, everything you wrote down, and how you could move it forward and utilize it in the future of your organization.
So, again, remember, the reason why we’re doing this is to learn from what we did that we really loved and things that didn’t work out. And we’re coming from a perspective of learning and growth, not from judgment, or we did this wrong. We did that wrong. We really need to learn and reflect as leaders and as business owners and executives in order to figure out how we can move forward so that we can move forward at a quicker and more effective pace. So here are the five questions to ask yourself about your company.
Number one, where did we fall short on supplying our products, slash services during these last three months? Number two, what vendors were we happy with and which ones do we need to find additional sources to ensure we are covered in the future? Number three, are there any areas in our business we need to do differently to ensure we are stable moving forward? Any product line slash services, we need to get rid of? Any product line slash services we need to add? Number four, where did we learn we could do more with less? And how can you utilize these learnings to cut future costs? And number five. How did the culture of my company respond during these last three months? Did it respond how I had hoped or thought it would? Or are there some learnings that need to occur in the future to get us back on track and focused on the culture that you want to create?
So those are the five questions that I have for you leaders, owners and executives to sit down with. Again, you can take these five questions. Your call to action is to answer them either all at one time. And we want to give ourselves one hour so you can either sit down and do it for an hour straight or you can take four fifteen minute blocks, but you gotta give yourself one hour because we want to not only hit on the answers that come right off top of our head. We want to give ourselves an hour so we don’t just get the answers that come right on top of our head, but actually the answers that are a little bit further down that can really teach us something about ourselves and about the company. So, again, the call to action is a take one hour or take for fifteen-minute increments. And to answer these questions, write them down, journal them, because you cannot remember what you put in your head. And again, our goal is to write these down. So next week we can go back and look at them and figure out what we can utilize to move forward.
And here are the five questions. Number one, where did we fall short on supplying our products services during these last three months? Number two, what vendors were we happy with and which ones do we need to find new ones to ensure we are covered in the future? Number three, are there any areas in our business we need to do differently to ensure we are stable moving forward? Do we need to add product lines or services? Do we need to get rid of some product lines or services? Number four, where did we learn we could do more with less? How can I utilize these learnings to cut future costs? And number five, how did the culture of my company respond during these last three months? Did it respond how I had hoped and we had planned for? Or are there some learnings that need to occur in the future to get back on track? I know for a fact that if you take the time and you answer these questions about culture and your company, if you answer the questions about your team and you could answer the questions about yourself, you’re going to learn a lot and it’s going to help you to move your business and your life forward in the future.
